At an event held on Sunday to mark the first anniversary of Merom Yehuda, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, the Chief Rabbi of Tzfat and a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, called on the Prime Minister and all the decision makers to establish a synagogue on the Temple Mount.
On Sunday, Rabbi Eliyahu said, “…I want to call on all Knesset members, all ministers, the Prime Minister, and all decision makers: the time has come to build a synagogue on the Temple Mount.”
“In the end, nothing belongs more to the people of Israel than this holy place. If we see prophecies coming true here, in the hills of Judea, Samaria, Benjamin, and everywhere, then certainly in the heart of the Land of Israel and the heart of the people of Israel, in the place where God’s eyes and heart are, there should be settlement,” Rabbi Eliyahu added.

Rabbi Eliyahu’s call for the establishment of a synagogue on the Temple Mount is a significant expression of Jewish sovereignty and historic rights in Jerusalem. His proposal is a part of the broader effort to restore and protect Jewish rights on the Temple Mount, which have been unnecessarily restricted for decades. Jewish prayer and worship at the site should be treated no differently than Muslim worship. Israeli leaders should assert full sovereignty over the Mount.
