We recall that beautiful end-of-summer day, Tuesday September 11, in 2001, when two jets, hijacked and commandeered by Islamic terrorists, slammed into New York City’s World Trade Center towers, one jet slammed into the Pentagon in Virginia outside of Washington D.C., and one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania instead of a strategic site in Washington, as a result of the heroics of the plane’s passengers.
We mourn with the families and friends who lost loved ones, victims of those heinous terrorist acts, many whose bodies were never recovered in the rubble and inferno on that day that will live in our hearts and minds forever.
We would like to believe that as a nation and as individuals, we emerged from that dark day and the days after, stronger and more resolute to confront the dangers facing us.
But have we? Our enemy – the enemy of Western civilization – continues to grow stronger. Witness the ongoing and seemingly endless fighting in the Middle East, where the protagonists never rest from trying to murder each other. Witness the growing strength of Iran and it’s allies such as Hezbollah and again, Hamas, threatening Israel with destruction on a near-daily basis. Witness Islamic terrorism, alive and well on a global level, shocking us when we least expect it. Witness the “battle of the womb” – the capitulation to Islam within Europe’s borders and the appeasement toward its growing presence, and the resulting demise of Europe’s traditional and Christian way of life.
Yes, we were able to locate and kill Osama bin Laden, as if ridding the world of one terrorist would solve the problem. However, Islam continues to grow and metastasize around the world, building critical mass wherever it takes root.
The truth is, we are in a fight to save Western civilization. Islam continues building unholy alliances with leftists around the world, and partners with rogue nations such as North Korea. It continues its onslaught in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, and is making strong inroads in the United States.
