When the Olive Harvest Becomes a Weapon Against Israel

As the annual olive harvest season begins in Judea and Samaria, Jewish farmers are preparing for a familiar combination of physical attacks, confrontations with radical activists and international media campaigns that frequently portray Jewish residents as the aggressors.

This year, however, Israel is taking new steps on two fronts: Defense Minister Israel Katz is moving to restrict radical activists accused of provoking confrontations, while the Binyamin Regional Council is distributing body cameras to farmers to ensure that incidents are documented from beginning to end.

The measures come amid a sharp increase in attacks against Jewish farms, including a documented series of deliberate livestock poisonings that has killed sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs.

According to Makor Rishon, the Binyamin Regional Council recorded approximately 23 violent incidents near Jewish farms in one week, rising to 48 the following week.

The olive harvest has increasingly become a flashpoint for violence, provocation, and anti-Israel campaigns in Judea and Samaria. Jewish farmers facing attacks on their livestock and agricultural property deserve protection, while body cameras can help document incidents and expose misleading narratives. Israel must enforce the law, safeguard Jewish communities, and prevent foreign activists from exploiting confrontations to delegitimize Israel’s presence in its historic heartland. Protecting farmers and defending Israel’s legitimacy must go hand in hand.
