I Did Not Send My Child to a NYC Public School to Pray for Hamas Operatives

That’s the quote from an angry parent whose child attends The Beacon School.

AFSI stands with and supports The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) who sent a letter to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza urging them to take action after The Beacon School recently held a moment of silence for “Palestinian victims” associated with the recent protests in Israel.

Read HERE for a copy of the letter

In addition to parental outrage, The Beacon School’s action made Jewish students feel very uncomfortable. It was learned that the head of Jewish Voice for Peace has a daughter in the school. Coincidence?

Calm for Now After Southern Israel and Sderot School Attacked By Multiple Barrages from Gaza

In what appears to be a cease-fire as of Wednesday morning, PM Netanyahu says terror groups will pay dearly if the attacks continue. More HERE.

Israel was under fire since Tuesday in what is now the worst barrage of rocket attacks aimed at the Jewish state since Operation Protective Edge in 2014.

At 7 am Tuesday morning, 3 rounds of 28 mortar shells each were fired at southern Israel with at least 2 exploding inside communities in the Eshkol region, including one that struck the yard of a kindergarten shortly before children were due to arrive.

The Israel Defense Forces, always well prepared to protect and defend the state, issued a statement on May 29. Read HERE

NEXT STEP: SOVEREIGNTY

Today’s AFSI must read is by Nadia Matar and Yehudit Katsover. They have an excellent OpEd piece in Arutz Sheva on Israeli pioneer, politician, activist, founder of the Tehiya party, and all around Israeli legend, Geula Cohen.

There is no one better to quote than Cohen on the subject of sovereignty: “We are proposing the application of Israeli law and jurisdiction in Judea and Samaria not only because it is the most just and ethical thing to do, but because it is also the most realistic.”

Terrorist in Attempted Ramming Attack in Havat Gilad Caught on AFSI Donated Security Cameras

A few short weeks ago, the AFSI group joined leaders of the Havat Gilad community todedicate a camera security system which Marc Provisor, Security Director of the One Israel Fund, had researched and installed. Havat Gilad is a small community in Samaria that holds a special place in the hearts of many of our members. AFSI has visited there often and was especially alerted to the need for security by the murder by Arab terrorists of Rabbi Raziel Shevach, a beloved member of the community.

This past Tuesday morning, May 15, 2018, there was an attempted terror attack at Havat Gilad. The intended victim was able to save himself, and shortly following the attempt the terrorist was apprehended using the information recorded by the new camera system.

AFSI is grateful to our members who help us fund projects like this. It is our Chizuk missions, which take us throughout Israel, into the disputed areas, which enable us to learn about the important needs of the communities.

We are involved in other projects to help communities we love get the help they need to continue to survive and thrive. We are extremely appreciative of the work of Marc and the One Israel Fund, who are at work day and night to “keep our people safe” in projects all over the country. Without a security expert like Marc we would never be able to carry out these types of projects.

Working together! That’s what it’s all about!

A Rambam Hospital medical team training in the underground facility

Prepared for Anything

On a recent AFSI Chizuk mission to Israel, AFSI was treated to a tour of the underground emergency hospital at Haifa’s Rambam Health Care Campus. We were amazed by what appeared to be a huge parking lot, impeccably clean. We saw how it could be converted, in minutes, into a functioning, state of the art, hospital. Kol hakovod to Rambam. We pray there will be no need to treat great numbers of people, but are grateful that Rambam is prepared.

This week, Israel’s largest hospital in the north, Haifa’s Rambam Health Care Campus, inaugurated a command center for its fortified underground emergency hospital (FUEH).

Situated in proximity to the border with Lebanon, the command center has been operating the Sammy Ofer Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital (FUEH), designed to treat 2,000 patients from throughout the northern region in time of war.

DEFENDING SOVEREIGNTY: ISRAEL STRIKES BACK IN SYRIA

The Israeli Defense Forces launched a counter strike – a severe blow – following an Iranian missile attack on the Golan Heights Thursday, destroying “nearly all” of the Islamic Republic’s military infrastructure throughout Syria.

The IDF will not allow the Iranian threat to establish itself in Syria. The Syrian regime will be held accountable for everything happening in its territory,” the press release read.“The IDF is prepared for a wide variety of scenarios.”

PM Netanyahu issued a statement on his Facebook page: “Iran crossed a red line. We responded accordingly.”

The White House issued a statement saying, “The U.S. condemns the Iranian regime’s provocative rocket attacks from Syria against Israeli citizens, and we strongly support Israel’s right to act in self-defense.” Iran’s deployment of missiles is “unacceptable,” and warned Iran would bear “full responsibility” for the consequences of its behavior.

Reports are also revealing unusually strong defense of the Jewish State from the UK, France and Germany.

America is OUT of the Iran Deal!!

Today, May 8, 2018, President Trump announced that the U.S. is withdrawing from the JCPOA – the “deal” with Iran, which was NOT a treaty, but an AGREEMENT, which former President Obama pushed through, in order to strengthen Iran, the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world.

The “deal” was supposed to protect the world against the building by Iran of its nuclear bomb, BUT, it allowed the continuing enrichment of uranium, the lifting of sanctions, and the building of ballistic missiles which could deliver nuclear warheads. President Trump cited Israel as showing the history of Iran’s building of the nuclear bomb. The billions of dollars that Obama gave to Iran did not go to the Iranian people, but into Iran’s military budget which has grown by 40% since the “deal.”

President Trump spoke about the efforts to work with France, Germany, England, and the Middle Eastern states to have them cooperate in this withdrawal from the “deal,” which he describes as a decaying, defective, rotten structure.

He concluded his talk by reaching out to the eight million Iranian people, who he described as suffering for the past forty years since the dictatorship took power. He said the Iranian people are entitled to a nation that does honor to its history. He is hoping that a new understanding with Iran will accomplish that, as well as bringing peace and stability to the Middle East.

At the end of his talk, he sat down to sign a memorandum on economic sanctions that would be placed on Iran and on countries that would do business with Iran. He concluded, “America will not be held hostage to nuclear blackmail.”
