Excuses, Excuses…Khan al-Amar Gets 7th Extension

The state on Tuesday night asked the High Court of Justice for another 30-day postponement of its response regarding the evacuation of the squatters’ shantytown of Khan al-Ahmar. This time it’s on the grounds that it requires “the consideration of the most senior officials, headed by the Prime Minister.” The request for a new delay––seventh since May 2018, when the court approved the evacuation of the illegal Arab settlement––states that “in the current state of affairs, having regard to the circumstances in the global political arena, including the prime minister’s involvement in the war crisis in Europe, and in order to allow the Prime Minister to engage in the matter of the petition, the Honorable Court is requested to grant the respondents an additional extension.”

Regavim issued a statement: “To the best of our knowledge, Prime Minister Bennett has returned from his trip to Europe, and as far as excuses go, this one is exceptionally flimsy. We are considering requesting a summary judgement.”

Israel On Full Alert

As officials in recent days have said a potential nuclear deal between Iran and world powers may be in the offing, the Israeli military today published fresh allegations regarding Tehran’s drone program. This included new footage of Israeli planes downing several Iranian unmanned aircraft.

On Sunday evening, the Israel Defense Forces announced that for the first time, its F-35 jets downed two Iranian drones that were ferrying firearms on March 15 of last year. The military believes the drones were headed to terror operatives in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, based on their flight path, similar to the interception of another aircraft in 2018.

As the negotiations in Vienna seem to be on their way to giving Iran rewards in return for nothing, Israel must remain on high alert. All indications are that Israel is the sole entity responsible for its defense against threats by Iran. There is no reason to wait for nor expect any other country to help Israel defend itself.

A Tour That Teaches the Truth

The Sovereignty Movement recently organized a tour of Judea and Samaria for public figures, journalists, social media influencers and others to explore the complexities and dichotomies of life in the region.

The February 23 gathering — under the leadership of Yehudit Katzover and Nadia Matar — focused on explaining the situation on the ground in many areas, including diplomacy, infrastructure, education, environmental issues, employment and quality of life for both Jewish and Arab residents of Judea and Samaria.

The tour was headed by Yigal Dilmoni, CEO of the YESHA Council, which represents the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria (and formerly Gaza).

Gantz: Israel Will Do Whatever It Takes to Stop Iran

Defense Minister Benny Gantz vowed Wednesday that Israel will never give up on making sure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons, as a deal between Tehran and world powers seemed imminent.
“In the coming weeks, perhaps even in the coming days, a nuclear agreement may be signed between [world] powers and Iran,” Gantz said during a graduation ceremony for navy officers in the Haifa bay area.

“Whether that happens or not, Israel will continue to do whatever it takes to prevent Iran from becoming an existential threat and possessing nuclear capability,” he said.

Former Special Advisor to the Secretary of State’s Iran Action Group Gabriel Noronha tweeted Wednesday afternoon: “My former career State Dept., NSC, and EU colleagues are so concerned with the concessions being made by Rob Malley in Vienna that they’ve allowed me to publish some details of the coming deal in the hopes that Congress will act to stop the capitulation.”

With one concession after another for Iran, what has the other side received in return? Absolutely nothing. The Iran matter must not be ignored. We are asking you – our loyal Israel activists – to take action today and also encourage your contacts to do the same. We can apply the pressure needed to put this disastrous deal to an end.

FOR THE LOVE OF ISRAEL’S SAFETY – OVERWHELM D.C. NOW WITH DAILY EMAILS, CALLS AND LETTERS!!

Yossi Dagan Gives Lessons to EU Leaders on Area C

As he steps up his attempts to stop illegal Palestinian construction in Area C, Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan has been meeting with government figures in many countries. This week he traveled to the Netherlands to meet with Dutch and Belgian MPs and provide them with clear documentation not only of what is going on, but also of the involvement of the European Union in Palestinian incursions.

Among the documents Dagan showed MPs was one revealing EU funding of half a billion dollars for such illegal construction and others showing how European governments also fund incitement campaigns against Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.

The MPs were reportedly shocked by the data presented to them and promised to take action.

AFSI applauds Yossi Dagan for his continued work in teaching the truth about Israel, in this case, the criminal takeover of Area C funded by European Union member dollars.

Shaked: Opportunity to Build Up the Negev

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked participated in a meeting of local authority heads and deputies today, and announced that later this month, the government would be making a decision regarding the establishment of between seven and twelve new communities in the Negev region.

“I had to fight a large number of officials opposed to this plan,” Shaked related, “but this is a plan that I see as vital in order to strengthen our hold on the Negev.

We like the possibility that more Jews will build up the Negev, despite the fact it is driven by the emergency in Ukraine. However, we would be remiss if we did not state that it should not have to take a crisis in another country to allow legally owned Jewish land to be built up by the Jewish people. Israel has always been home to the Jewish people and has taken in Jews from all over the world even if driven by political crisis and war. This is a no-brainer and we pray Israel’s government makes the right decision to establish new communities in the Negev without delay.

Is Neglect of the Negev Coming to an End?

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett vowed to end the government’s neglect of the Negev during a ’40 signatures’ debate in the Knesset plenum Monday evening.

“For many years there has been total and systemic neglect of Arab crime in general and crime in the Negev in particular. This neglect has led to a state of utter lawlessness, loss of personal security of the state’s citizens and a real sense of lack of governance,” Bennett began.

Bennett must make things right now and match his words with action. A full implementation of governance over the Negev must happen without delay. There should be no more debate on this.

Dagan Calls Out EU for What It Is: Abusive to Israel

Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan sent a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, regarding the funding by the European Union of campaigns that support anti-Semitism.

In the letter, Dagan wrote, “With all due respect, Israeli radical extremist left-wing organizations are currently running a campaign in Israel that censures the Jews of Judea and Samaria and accuses them of violence.”

“This is a deceptive, comprehensive, provocative, and discriminative campaign that condemns and categorizes a large and extensive population of about half a million people, accusing them with false accusations, solely because they are Jews who live in Judea and Samaria.

We applaud Yossi Dagan for his scathing but very necessary letter to the EU. They need to hear the truth.

Israel and Ukraine: Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

Natan Sharansky, the former prisoner of Zion, human rights activist, Israeli government minister and Jewish Agency chief, urged Israel to take “a clear moral stand” against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assault on Ukraine.

Sharansky, who was born in what is now Donetsk, Ukraine, called Putin’s attack a challenge to “all the basic principles of the free world.” He also found himself “in a minority of one” when expressing similar sentiments in several Hebrew media appearances: “Others have put it to me that Israel’s prime moral obligation is to protect our citizens, and that if that means staying silent or not irritating Vladimir Putin, so be it — a case of realpolitik overriding moral clarity.”

And the fact is, he stressed, “it’s not cowardice for Israel to seek to avoid irritating Putin. We are in a situation where, because of the weakness of the West, Putin holds the keys to the skies in our area. To protect ourselves from Iran, from the military bases Iran would establish [directly across Israel’s borders], we need good ties with Russia.”

Based on what Sharansky said it is important for Israel to take a position on the crisis in Ukraine and must maintain peaceful ties with Russia for the sake of deterring Iran. Israel has been taking in scores of Ukranian refugees and so many of us have Ukraninan roots. As President Donald Trump always said, “peace through strength.” No good can come of being enemies with Russia.

Area C Closer to Getting Connected to Electricity

The Ministry of Justice held a crucial discussion yesterday on connecting electricity infrastructure to the “young communities” of Judea and Samaria.

At the meeting, agreements were reached on the wording of the order that will allow Minister of Defense Benny Gantz to connect at least thirty localities and sections in Judea and Samaria.

Yesterday, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked visited the young community of Avigayil. Shaked said that “the community of Avigayil is a community that I have personally accompanied for many, many years.” Authorizing electricity is “…the basic condition, and also to authorize the entire community and prevent Palestinian takeover in Area C.”

Residents in Area C having been needlessly waiting a long time to be connected to the basic service of electricity. We trust this development will be the start of a domino effect throughout the rest of Area C.
