Yesterday, AFSI welcomed today’s inaugural launch of the Congressional Israel Victory Caucus by Congressmen Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Bill Johnson (R-OH). As we reported, the goal of the caucus is to introduce a new US strategy to re-shape the discourse of the Arab-Israel peace process to be more focused on Israel’s needs.
Regarding a new approach toward the Arab-Israel “peace process”, Gil Troy penned an article in the Jerusalem Post detailing what is needed get to a new approach. First, he writes about what has been wrong with the approach that has been tried the past few decades, over and over:
Oslo made Israelis diplomatic Charlie Browns, forever running to kick the football – only to have Palestinians as Lucy pull it away at the last minute, repeatedly. The Palestinians make demands as if they won.
Many Israelis, bullied by the international community, believe that if they make the right concession, peace will reign. Meanwhile, the UN fuels the fouler delusion that Israel will disappear if Palestinians find the right resolution to delegimitize it.
The Palestinians are the world’s crybabies, forever demanding, complaining, blaming; never compromising or accepting responsibility for their violent actions.
Act Like Lions To Impose Peace, Not Lambs
Next, he lays out what needs to be done, by referencing an insightful article by Daniel Pipes:
This brings us to the key concept of my approach, which is victory, or imposing one’s will on the enemy, compelling him through loss to give up his war ambitions. Wars end, the historical record shows, not through goodwill but through defeat. He who does not win loses. Wars usually end when failure causes one side to despair, when that side has abandoned its war aims and accepted defeat, and when that defeat has exhausted its will to fight. Conversely, so long as both combatants still hope to achieve their war objectives, fighting either goes on or it potentially will resume.
Pipes continues that it is necessary to induce the Palestinians to drop rejectionism, and that Israeli compromises only aggravated Palestinian hostility:
Israeli efforts to “make peace” were received as signs of demoralization and weakness. “Painful concessions” reduced the Palestinian awe of Israel, made the Jewish state appear vulnerable, and inspired irredentist dreams of annihilation.
This is no surprise, as one does not “make [peace] with very unsavory enemies” but rather with former very unsavory enemies. That is, enemies that have been defeated.
Thus, Pipes writes, what is necessary is to defeat the Palestinians and break their will to fight.

President Trump: On His Way to Israel!
We are thrilled that President Trump is planning a visit to Israel this May, and this while AFSI will be there too!
There is speculation galore that during his visit, President Trump will announce the moving of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and that he plans to recognize Jerusalem as the united capital of Israel.

Speculation – yes – so we are cautious, although the signs are positive. Thankfully, President Trump is reversing eight years of antagonism between Israel and the U.S. during President Obama’s two terms in power.
When President Trump held his news conference and announced that he is open to new ideas for peace between Israel and the “Palestinians”, whether it be one state or two states or whatever would be agreed upon by the parties, the mainstream media went ballistic. After all, how could Trump be so arrogant as to even suggest an alternative to decades of established U.S. policy calling for the creation of a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria?
Of course, the media also scoffed at Trump, labeling him an ignorant buffoon, way over his head in the field of world diplomacy.
If the current speculation is born out to be true, then we will be witness to a spectacular celebration in a few weeks, during the upcoming 50th anniversary of the liberation and unification of Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem!
